ABOUT SAN DIEGO YOGA STUDIO
San Diego Yoga Studio’s History
San Diego Yoga Studio has a history that began long before Kim and Russ Imlay became its owners. Established in 1990, the studio has been home to generations of students and teachers and has evolved along with the community around it.
When Kim and Russ purchased the studio in 2006, they inherited more than a yoga studio. They inherited a community and a feeling that had developed over many years. Their goal was not to change what made the studio special, but to preserve that spirit while continuing to improve and grow.
Over the years, they did just that—bringing their own personalities, experience, and love of yoga to the studio while keeping the welcoming, unpretentious atmosphere that had always been part of San Diego Yoga Studio.
For many years, students and teachers from San Diego and around the world walked through the familiar blue door of the studio’s former home. Some came for a single class, while others became part of the studio for decades. Friendships were formed, teachers developed, and countless hours of yoga were practiced together.
Eventually, San Diego Yoga Studio moved from that longtime home. The blue door stayed behind, but the community didn’t.
Today, San Diego Yoga Studio continues to evolve, just as it has since 1990. Locations change. Teachers and students come and go. But the heart of a good yoga studio remains remarkably simple: a place to learn, practice, and feel welcome.
